University of the Virgin Islands School of Education Master of Arts in Education Spring 2015 Course Evaluation Data The chart below summarizes students’ responses on course evaluation surveys administered in the Spring 2015 semester. Students rate each instructor’s course presentation on a scale of 1-7, seven being most favorable. Overall mean ratings are presented. Item Indicator of Effectiveness Mean Rating 1 Professor is generally prepared. 6.02 2 Professor uses techniques to facilitate learning. 6.11 3 Professor has knowledge of subject matter. 6.14 4 Professor analyses, evaluates, and encourages students. 5.90 5 Professor encourages students to ask questions. 6.42 6 Professor requires students to explore ideas. 5.87 7 Professor requires students to demonstrate critical thinking. 6.24 8 Professor is approachable out of class. 6.23 9 Professor returns graded papers frequently. 5.93 10 Professor employs effective techniques. 5.58 Total 6.02 Note: The data represent 8 course evaluations done for full time faculty at the graduate level with 51 students completing surveys.
