ACT NO, 7520 BILL NO. 30-0123 THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2013 An Act amending 12A V.LC. as it relates to Consumer and Business Protection in the Virgin Islands ---0--- WHEREAS, consumer and business protection laws serve to hold accountable certain unfair and deceitful trade practices which may be small acts of wrongful conduct on an individual scale, but in the aggregate, amount to systematic deceptive trade practices or false advertising; and WHEREAS, consumer and business protection laws and statutes of other States and Territories provide greater protection to their citizens and businesses while the laws of the Virgin Islands fail to give the same strong protections and remedies to its citizens; and WHEREAS, Virgin Islands businesses also deserve protection from unfair or deceptive trade practices of large domestic, foreign or multinational corporations in which the wrongful conduct can disproportionately harm businesses in the Territory; and WHEREAS, States such as Hawaii, New Mexico, New Jersey, California, Illinois and New York have consumer an …
