This notable contribution, consisting of essential toiletries and other items, aims to provide comfort and care to the residents of the Youth Rehabilitation Center and the Anna’s Hope Group Home on St. Croix. Gems of Paradise Community Outreach Organizer Zara Heskey noted that the organization has been making donations to the Youth Rehabilitation Center since 2021. During the first two years, the group depended on its members to donate items, but turned to the public in a donation drive on July 29 at Cost-U-Less. The donated items, which include an assortment of toiletries, personal care products, and other essential supplies, reflect the Gems of Paradise's commitment to uplifting the lives of those in need. The Department of Human Services acknowledges and appreciates the fraternal group's consistent efforts to improve the well-being of the facilities’ residents. "We are deeply grateful to the Gems of Paradise for their continuous support and generosity," said Alicia George, Acting Director of Treatment at the Youth Rehabilitation Center. "Their donation will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the residents of the Youth Rehabilitation Center and the Anna’s Hope Group Home, providing them with not only essential items but also a sense of care and community support." Human Services Commissioner Kimberley Causey-Gomez also expressed her gratitude, stating, "The generosity displayed by Gems of Paradise goes beyond the tangible items they've provided. It sends a powerful message of care and support to our residents, reminding them that their community believes in their potential for positive change. This donation will contribute to their personal growth and development during their time at our facilities."
