COMMITTEE ON BUDGET, APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE 09/11/2025-REPORTED OUT TO THE COMMITTEE ON RULES AND JUDICIARY BILL NO. 36-0173 Thirty-Sixth Legislature of the Virgin Islands September 10, 2025 An act providing an appropriation for the operation of the Judicial Branch of the Government of the Virgin Islands, the Judicial Council and the Office of the Territorial Public Defender during the fiscal year October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026 PROPOSED BY: Senators Milton E. Potter and Novelle E. Francis, Jr. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. The following sums are appropriated from the General Fund of the 2 Treasury of the Government of the Virgin Islands for operating expenses in the fiscal year 3 ending September 30, 2026 to the following entities: 4 0100 GENERAL FUND FY2026 5 JUDICIAL COUNCIL $130,620 6 VI JUDICIARY & COURT SYSTEM $40,258,400 7 OFFICE OF THE TERRITORIAL PUBLIC DEFENDER $6,132,220 8 TOTAL 0100 GENERAL FUND $46,521,240 9 BILL SUMMARY 10 This bill appropriates $46,521,240 for the operation of the Judicial Branch of the 11 Government of the Virgin Islands, the Judicial Council and the Office of the Territorial Public 12 Defender during the fiscal year October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. 13 14 BR25-0803/BUDGET/September 4, 2025 15
