There are two types of data entries: Values and Labels. Value Cells may contain numbers or formulas. The first character of a value cell must be a +, -, number or @. Every cell has an address which is the Column letter followed by the Row Number (I.E. C3). Your current cell address is in the top left corner of your screen. A range is a group of cells defined by a beginning and ending cell separated by two dots (..). Ranges can be a single cell I.E. C3; vertical I.E. A1..A10; horizontal I.E. A3..E3; or rectangular C3..E8. Move down through menus by typing single letters, ESC moves back to the next higher level. To get a blank spreadsheet Starting up QPro results in a blank spreadsheet. Otherwise, first Save your work; Choose /File New. Note that Quatro Pro can work with more than one spreadsheet at a time. To switch between active windows /Window, Pick. To edit the contents a cell Point to the Cell; Press F2. To format value cells Choose /Style Numeric Choose the type of format you want, I.E.: Comma, Percent Currency, Text If asked, type in the number of decimal places; Type in or highlight the range (can be one cell). To align Label cells Left is Automatic, QPro adds a single quote (‘). Right type a full quote (“) as the first character. Center type a circumflex (^) as the first character. Repeat type a slash (\) then the letter(s) to repeat. Note only use above for label cells! Never value cells. Erasing data Do not use spacebar enter to erase! Choose /Edit Erase Block; Type in or highlight the range (can be one cell). Changing the width of columns Point to the target column; Choose /Style Column Width; Use left and right arrows (( () or type in the width you want. Saving a file To save the current window, choose /File Save; Be sure to specify the B: drive. Retrieving a file Choose /File Retrieve Erase the C: drive path; then type B: to list B: files. Type or Highlight the name of the file. To quit Save your work; Choose /File,, Exit Printing a spreadsheet Choose /Print, Block; Type or highlight the range; Choose /Spreadsheet Print Copying and moving data (See absolute vs.. relative addresses) Choose /Edit Copy or Move; Enter or Select the FROM range; Enter or Select the TO range. Inserting a row or column Point to the right of (columns) or below (rows) your insert destination. Choose /Worksheet Insert Row (or Column) Functions Math operation keys are on the numeric keypad: Divide Multiply Subtract To add a range @SUM(Range) To get the average of a range @AVG(Range) To find the Future Value @FV(payment, Interest*, Term*) To find the amount of a payment @PMT(principal, Interest*, Term*) To find the Rate of interest. @RATE(FutureValue, PresentValue, Term*) *Interest: Interest per payment (Yearly Rate / 12) *Term: Number of Payments (years * 12) Quatro Pro Graphs Important Concepts: All graphs need to have an X axis which is represented by a range of cells with labels. All graphs must have one or more Y axis that are represented by value ranges represented by the letters A - F. There are always the same number of items in your label and value ranges. Usually your data range is oriented (horizontal or vertical) the same as the label range. Most of the following commands assume that you are in the /Graphing area. If you are having problems, check the contents of the top three commands under graph (Type, Series and Text). Don’t use the Save command found under the /Graph menus; do use the one found under /File menus. To get to the graphing area Choose /Graph. To choose the type of graph In the graphing menu choose, Graph Type. Select your graph type. To view your current graph In the graphing menu choose, View. To define the X-Axis labels In the graphing menu choose, Series; Highlight or type in the X-Axis range. To define the Y-Axis values In the graphing menu choose, 1 - 6 Series; Highlight or type in the Y-Axis range(s). To remove a series In the graphing menu choose, Customize Series; Then choose Reset and select the series to erase. To give a graph a legend or title(s) In the graphing menu choose, Text. To name a Graph for later use In the graphing area choose, Name Create; Enter the Graph Name. To retrieve a named Graph In the graphing area choose, Name Use; Select the Graph Name. To Print a Graph Choose /Print Graph Print Choose /Name or Go Other Concepts Absolute vs. Relative cell addressing When a formula is copied the cell addresses change unless they have been locked. A locked cell has an absolute address. Copying down rows changes row numbers. To lock rows, place a $ in front of the row number. I.E. C$4. Copying across columns changes column letters. To lock columns, place a $ in front of the column letter. I.E. $C4. Both the column and row can be locked, I.E. $C$4. When printing, be sure to adjust the print margins. Quatro Pro measures print margins in characters, not inches. You can adjust the layout under /Printer Layout Good values for the left margin are 10-15. DO NOT ADJUST MARGINS BY ADJUSTING THE PRINTER.
