Christiansted Post Office EGINNING April 2, 1922, and until further notice, the lefter mail for St. Thomas, Porto Rico ‘and the Unit®® Qtates, ete., to go forward by the S. 8. ““Marina”’_via Frederiksted, wil) be closed at this offi¢e at 10.00 a. m. Sunday. This is only a collection service, and no stamps will be sold: money otders will neither be issued nor paid; mail will not be register- ed, nor will there be any general delivery of mail, and the mail boxes wiil be clea® ed precisely at 10.00 a. m. This service aims at affording the patrons of this cffice as much time as practicable in which to answer important correspondenge receiv- ed the previous afternoon, and §it is not contemplated that letters which couid be mailed on Saturday will be held over for Sunday morning. The fact that since the establishment of steamer ser- vice ithe usual gquantity of mail has heen deposited in the post office on Sat- urday indicates that Sunday collection serviece is not indispensable, and co-oper- ation is earnestly invited in this effort to § further serve the public. If it should develop that the bulk of mail is held over for mailing on Sunday morning so much work will be imposed on the office that in order to dispatch the mail in due time, it will be imperative to shorten the houpy nf service.
