CROIX STATION, f New York, April 19th.—Heavy pur- | chases of raw sugars by big refining in- terests yesterday caused an advance in prices of all classes of sugar to the high- | ost levels since 1920. The demand of housewives, throughout the country, for | granalated and other refined sugars, | forced the refiners in the market, it was 1 reported around the sugar exchange, | The price of raw sugar advanced twice | during the day’s trading, the last sale of | Cuban raw sugar being at 6ie.
