HE attention of all owners and drivers of low carts, porters, and cartmen in | the Island of St. Croix is hereby call- ed to the following paragraphs of the Ordinance of 15th May 1875 concerning | Porters and Cartmen. | Paragraph 17¢h. “‘Carts must always be loaded in a | proper manrer, so that there be no danger of their being upset, or of their dropping the load, or of their breaking down on the way, of their causing dam- | age or inconvenience to ihe traffic, or to passers by. No cart-load ‘vith one horse, ' must, without special permission, be of a | greater weight than 800 lbs. on level | ground, and half of that weight up-hill. | Paragraph 18. ““The Police may cause vehicles (carts, | horses, and harness) to be examined at | any time, in orcer te ascertain whether they are in a state suited to the require- ments and safety of the public, and adapted to the other considerations that | must be observed.
