pg. 1 df November 9th , 2025 Testimony for VI Bill # 36-0149- A Resolution Honoring and Commending Ms. Janeisha John Dear Esteemed Members of the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands of the United States: It is with great honor and pride that I present this testimony in recognition and support of VI Bill # 36-0149 commending Ms. Janeisha John, a distinguished artist whose dedication to the performing arts and her unwavering connection to her roots exemplify the very essence of our vibrant St. Croix community. Ms. John’s journey began at the Music In Motion Dance Academy (MIM) formerly in Estate Carlton in Frederiksted now known as Music In Motion School of Higher Dance Education (MIMSHDE) in Estate Orange Grove in Christiansted, where she commenced her artistic endeavors at the tender age of four. Janeisha demonstrated an unparalleled passion for dance and the performing arts, which she shared with her two sisters-Janella and Jo’Liza. Through more than 12 years of intensive training in a variety of dance forms—ballet, tap, gymnastics, and more—Janiesha honed her skills and cultivated a passion that would guide her throughout her life and career. Janiesha's friendly demeanor and collaborative spirit allowed her to foster strong relationships with her peers, contributing positively to group activities and performances. Janeisha's competitive spirit in gymnastics was showcased through her successful participation in various MIM Gymnastics Team competitions throughout St. Croix. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the performing arts, with both parents as entrepreneurs in the culinary field as owners of Centerline Bakery of St. Croix and her father, Josephat John, as a producer and director, she has been surrounded by influences that not only appreciate but actively promote the arts. This supportive family background likely fueled her confidence in front of cameras and audiences and supported her successful future as a celebrity star. As she transitioned from a budding dancer to an accomplished performer and professional model, Janeisha has never forgotten the foundational experiences that MIM provided for her. She embraced the guidance and mentorship she received there, illustrating her gratitude towards those who have helped shape her into the exceptional artist and globally recognized celebrity she is today. Throughout her career, Janeisha has consistently expressed her appreciation for MIM and the critical and foundational role it played in her development, emphasizing the importance of honoring those who nurture our community’s talents and help us rise. Ms. John's connection to her community and culture extends beyond her training; she exemplifies a deep-seated appreciation for the people and heritage of St. Croix and the Virgin Islands. Her performances, professional productions, creative arts investments, and participation in various pg. 2 df initiatives celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our islands. Acknowledging and respecting her roots, Janeisha remains actively involved in uplifting local traditions and values, ensuring that her journey in the creative performing arts reflects the spirit of the communities that have supported her since childhood. This kind of commitment serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists, as it reinforces the notion that success is best experienced in conjunction with a sense of belonging and community. Since her formative years, Janeisha has also thrived in her multiple competitive endeavors, earning the titles of Miss U.S. Virgin Islands America (2007) and representing our islands at the Miss America pageant (2008) followed by becoming the Miss U.S. Virgin Islands Universe (2010). These accolades further solidify her reputation as a role model, illustrating to our youth the potential that exists when one nurtures their talents and maintains a strong connection to their identity. Moreover, her success in pageantry exemplifies her multifaceted abilities as a performer and community ambassador, demonstrating that she is not only an artist but also a strong advocate for the Virgin Islands. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly commend Ms. Janeisha John for her remarkable contributions to the creative performing arts and her unwavering dedication to our St. Croix, Virgin Islands and global communities. Her legacy reflects a profound respect for her roots and an infectious enthusiasm for sharing the beauty of St. Croix with the world. This legislative proclamation not only recognizes her individual achievements and dedication to these Virgin Islands but also honors the rich cultural tapestry of our islands, ensuring that future generations can see the power of remaining true to one’s heritage, roots and homelands while striving for and representing true excellence. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to express my unwavering support for this proposed recognition by the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands and my admiration for Ms. Janeisha John, a true example of creative artistic commitment, entrepreneurial leadership, community spirit, and ambassadorial excellence. Sincerely, Charlita Schuster Founder and Artistic Director Music in Motion School of Higher Dance Education
