ACT NO. 7406 BILL NO. 29-0389 TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2012 An Act amending Title 24 Virgin Islands Code, section 254a providing for the increase in the maximum allowable Workers’ Compensation benefits ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 24 of Virgin Islands Code, Chapter 11, section 254a is amended in subsection (f) by striking the word, “subsection” and inserting “section” in its place; and at the end of subsection (f) by adding three sentences that read as follows: “However, an employee classified pursuant to section 371 of this title, as a member of any Class II] bargaining unit that consists of police officers, corrections officers, firefighters, prison guards, or other persons employed in similar positions to protect the public safety and welfare or protect the property of a public employer, who is injured in the line of duty, is entitled to a maximum allowable benefit of $750,000, of which the first $250,000 must be covered by the Government Insurance Fund. …
