Aug. 10th.—The early retire- ment of Chanzellor Cuno and his mini - try seems toreshadowed In consequence of the decision of the United States so- cialists to support the "‘no confidence” mo'jon, introducel by the Communists which will come up for vote in the Reich- stag on Monday. Although the united socialists originally concluded that they voald abstain ftom voting when the j-sue came up, the internal situation now is tast drifting to a point where the so- cialists face the necessity of aving their political prestige with the workers .n or- der to prevent the workers from desert- the communists. The socialist leaders tonight are conferrirg with Chancellor Cuno. in an effort to induce him to re- sizn. If he acquiesces, Dr. Gustav Stres- ¢ nann, leader of the German peoples party, would be asked by President [bert to reconstruct the Guvernment on the basis of a big coalition, which would in- clude the upited socialists. The panicky feeling which has marked Germany’s internal situation during the past few days and which is being converted into political eapital by the Communists, late tonight seized the Reichstag, where symptons of a Cuno crisis developed be- cause of the decision of the socialists to retire from their position of ''benevolent neutrality’ toward the present non-patr- tisap or business cabinet. WA In default of this tax not being paid it shall be enllected in the sanse manner as provided in the Horse, Carriage and Boat Tax Ordinance. New licenses issuned within the period shall be piid fur proportionately.”’ The taxes due according to the above section for the second half of 1923 be- came cue on July 1. 1923 and will be pay- able at the Police Odices on September 1, 1923 in th®same manner as the Horse, Carriage and Boat Tax. Tax-lists will be distributed by the Police Department and are required tou be correctly filled our and returned to the respective Police Offices 2 days after re- ceipt in the towns and 4 days after re- celpt in the country.
