THURSDAY December 15 for the in- habitants of Hiil, East. Lagoon, Little Hospital, New and Fisher Streets. For the Country: FRIDAY December 16 for the inhabi- tants in both East End Quarters at the Stock Estate Sally’s Fancy at 11 o’clock a. 1, SATURDAY December 17 for the in- habitants in Compeny’s Quarter at the Agricuitural Expemiment Station at Es- tate Ar.na’s Hope at 11 clock a. m. For the Town of Frederiksted: same day for the inhabitants of Strand, King’s and Queen’s S reets, FRIDAY December 23 for the inhabi- tants of Prince’s, Hospital and New Sireets, King’s Cross Street, Market, Hill and Lagoon Streets, all at the said Police Office at 10 o’clock a. m. Owners of estates are to specify in writing the exact number of acres in sugar cultivation, 1n cotton cultivation, in other eultivaiion and in pasture. Also information concerning the buildings on the estate and the appropriation thereof, especially i¢ there are rooms rented so other than laborers permanently em- ployed, and the length and width of said rooms and the rental thereof. If any portion of the land is eonsidered to be useless, and yields no revenue to the owner, the number of acres of such portion must be stated in the taxlist and a certificate on oath issued by the pio- prietor and two Burghers residing in the quarter, and furthermore attested by the ST.CROIX-AV 13 Quarter Officer, and delivered to the Commission. L Owners of empty lotsin town are re- quested to fillin the taxlists accurately, giving the infoermation desired, in order that it may be ascertained if any new buildings have been erected on the pro- perty during the year, also stating the time when such buildings were first occupied. ; In order that reduction can be obtained in the taxes for dwelling houses, ware- houses and sheds, wkich have been un- occupied for two months and upwards, the Commission: would particularly draw the aftention of those parties desiring reduction, that it is very necessary In such cases that certificates to that effect be produced stating that the houses, sheds ete. have been vacant during said period. - IT MUST BE SPECIALLY OOB- SERVED: Persons neglecting to procure the information and proof described by the regulation injthe above shape, time and place must ascribe to their own negl)ect all losses resulting therefrom. As several planters in the last years have ne I)ected to meet at the fixed time an§ place to deliver their taxlists, the Commission begs to announce that taxlists will not be received for any quarter, at any other time or place than above stated. In case persouns neglect to deliver a taxlist for any estate in due time, the Commission will, be= fore closing the meeting assess the tax for said estate according to the best of -its knowledge. Taxlists which are forwarded later to the Commission, will, together with a list of those estates that have omit- ted to send in their taxlists, be transmitted to the Government in order that other measures be taken. Blanks for taxlists will be distributed some q@ays previous to the meeting of the Tax Commission and are required to be accurately filled out by the parties concerned and delivered to the Commis- sion on the day which is fixed for each street in the town and each quarter in the country. : Tax Commission for St. Croix, Novem- ber 22nd 1921. The Native Brass Band entertained the putlic with a concert last night, Those who are unable to avail themselves of the evening music, and the children, are hoping soon to be given the after- noon concert which they miss so much. TELEGRA MS. ST. CROIX STATION. Special. London, Nov. 22nd.—The betrothal of Princess Mary, only daugh- ter of the King and Q een, to Viscount Lascellas was annoupced this evening. The King at a council meeting in Buck- ingham Palace today, had previously an- nounced that he has given his consent to the marriage. Viscount Lascelles (Henry George Charles) is the eldest son of the Earl of Harwood and is 39 years old. Princess Mary was 24 last April. The Viscount was educated at Eton, was an attache at the British Embassy in Rome from 1905-1906 and Aide-camp to Earl Gray, Governor Gereral of Canada, 1907-1911. He served with distinction in the great war. He was thrice wound- ed and won the distinguished service order and bar and the French Croix &e Guerre. Publieation of the Royal betro- thal has quickened again public interest in the Prince of Wales for whom ru- mour several times has selected a name outside the Roval Family. London, Nov. 23rd.—The first formal cnnference between the representatives of the Govt. and of the Sinn Fein, since the meeting between the cabinet mem- bers and the Ulster representatives, wvas held in Downing Street this morning. Mr. Lloyd George and Viscount Birken- head, the Lord Chancellor, met Arthur Griffith and Michael Collins, the Dail Eireann delegates. The Govt. at today’s conference put before the Sinn Fein va- rious alternative propesals for meeting Ulster object to the proposed all Ireland parliament, as well as a suggestion that Ulster be:left temporarily as she is, while the rest of Ireland recgives fiscal autonomy which would mak?;s taxatior
