October 27 Governor proposes at least $2 million more to program that has assisted 64 Virgin Islanders purchase their first home U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. today announced his intent to add at least $2 million to the VI Slice Moderate Income Homeownership Program, expanding a first-of-its-kind initiative that has already helped 64 Virgin Islands families purchase their first homes. The VI Slice program was developed and launched by Governor Bryan in October 2022. “Homeownership is the foundation of stable families and stronger communities,” Governor Bryan said. “We created VI Slice to open doors for moderate- and middle-income families who have done everything right and still face a gap at the closing table. The program works. The initial funds have been fully utilized because demand is strong and results are real. We are not ending VI Slice. We are expanding it.” Launched to make homeownership attainable for more Virgin Islanders, the VI Slice Moderate Income Homeownership Program provides grants of up to $200,000 to qualified first-time buyers to close financing gaps and complete their purchases. To date, the program has received 94 applications. Of these, 64 applications have been approved and closed or disbursed, and 8 are pending final decision or documentation. “Every key we place in a family’s hand is progress you can see,” Governor Bryan said. “This additional funding keeps momentum going and keeps faith with working families who are ready to buy but need that last lift.” Residents interested in the VI Slice Moderate Income Homeownership Program should gather standard mortgage-readiness documents, consult their lenders, and watch for the next application window announcement from program administrators. ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
