ACT NO. %351 BILL NO. 29-0159 TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2012 An Act amending title 3, Chapter 1, Virgin Islands Code, to re-establish the Virgin Islands Commission on Aging within the Office of the Governor ---0--- WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that the increasing life span of Virgin Islands’ seniors and the increasing senior population require new strategies to ensure the future delivery of services to our elders; and WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that the Virgin Islands Government, having jurisdiction and responsibility for the establishment, supervision, and monitoring of publicly funded programs which deal exclusively with the health and welfare of the aging, requires the input of advocacy groups whose focus is solely on the older adults in our community; and WHEREAS, the Legislature finds the Department of Human Services, through their Division of Senior Citizens Affairs, seeks to improve their community programs that address the challenges of our growing senior population and transform our community into a state of “Elder Readiness” and wi …
