THE VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT “To Protect and Serve” Office of the Commissioner AAF Justice Complex, 5400 Veterans Drive St. Thomas, 00802 * (340) 774-2211 Administrative Services Building 45 Mars Hill, Frederiksted St. Croix, 00840 * (340) 778-2211 www.vipd.vi.gov VIPD NEWS RELEASE - 043023-132 For Immediate Media Distribution April 30, 2023 Suspect Arrested After Domestic Incident was Caught on Surveillance St. Croix, USVI - On April 29, 2023, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of domestic disturbance in progress in the Castle Burke residential area. Upon the arrival of the officers, they made contact with the victim who said his brother, Mr. Sham Malaykhan attempted to assault him and damaged his vehicle. The incident was caught on surveillance, which clearly showed Mr. Sham Malaykhan damaging the victim’s vehicle. Officers made contact with Mr. Sham Malaykhan who was advised of his Miranda Rights. He denied attempting to assault the victim or damaging the victim’s vehicle. Mr. Sham Malaykhan, 36-years-old was placed under arrest at 6:50 p.m. without incident. …

He was charged with Destruction of Property-DV and Disturbance of the Peace Fighting. He was booked and no bail was set in this matter until he is seen by a judge. He was then transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing set for May 1, 2023, at the Superior Court. ###
