UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION TITLE CHANGE OF ADMINISTRATIVE CHAIRS Purpose: To approve a title change from Administrative Chair of Division to Dean of Division in order to provide clarity in the level of responsibility and accountability at the Division level to both internal and external stakeholders. WHEREAS, the title change from Administrative Chair to Dean of Division will not affect the organizational structure of the University of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will not violate the moratorium that the Board of Trustees has instituted on organizational restructuring or realignment at the University of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will not affect the duties, responsibilities and salaries of the position; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division is consistent with the terminology and best practices used in higher education; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will provide clarity to potential applicants in the duties and responsibilities associat …

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION TITLE CHANGE OF ADMINISTRATIVE CHAIRS Purpose: To approve a title change from Administrative Chair of Division to Dean of Division in order to provide clarity in the level of responsibility and accountability at the Division level to both internal and external stakeholders. WHEREAS, the title change from Administrative Chair to Dean of Division will not affect the organizational structure of the University of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will not violate the moratorium that the Board of Trustees has instituted on organizational restructuring or realignment at the University of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will not affect the duties, responsibilities and salaries of the position; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division is consistent with the terminology and best practices used in higher education; and WHEREAS, the title change to Dean of Division will provide clarity to potential applicants in the duties and responsibilities associated with the position; and WHEREAS, on February 8, 2008, the Academic Research and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees approved this proposal and hereby submits this resolution to the Board of Trustees for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the title change from Administrative Chair of Division to Dean of Division is hereby approved on the condition that this action shall not be interpreted as committing the Board of Trustees to the reorganizing of the University into Schools; and that the President is authorized to take such action as is necessary to implement this resolution. 2. That this resolution shall become effective March 15, 2008.
