COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND AGRICULTURE BILL NO. 36-0315 Thirty-Sixth Legislature of the Virgin Islands July 21, 2026 An act amending the definition of farm in title 7 Virgin Islands Code chapter 1, subchapter I, section 2 PROPOSED BY: Senator Novelle E. Francis, Jr. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. Title 7 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1, subchapter I, section 2, 2 subsection (e) is amended by inserting “that has or could have the potential for $5,000 or 3 more in sales from agricultural commodities during a calendar year” after “dairy products”. 4 BILL SUMMARY 5 This bill amends the definition of “farm” in title 7 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1, 6 subchapter I, section 2, subsection (e) to include only farmland that has or could have the 7 potential for $5,000 or more in sales from agricultural commodities during a calendar year. 8 BR25-0558/April 8, 2025/GC 9
