Berry for her years of public service and to name the Legislative complex containing the Legal Counsel and other offices the Lorraine L. Berry Legislative Annex ---0--- WHEREAS, Lorraine Ledee Berry was born on the island of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands on November 15, 1949 to Joseph and Emelda Ledee; and WHEREAS, Lorraine L. Berry developed a strong interest in politics and social justice as a teenager after being inspired by the words and oratory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the “I Have a Dream” speech on August 8, 1963; and WHEREAS, Lorraine L. Berry was a Democrat all her adult life, having cast her first vote as a Democrat in 1968 and subsequently founding the Virgin Islanders for Democratic Action Club along with serving innumerable terms as a member of the Territorial Committee of the Virgin Islands Democratic Party; and WHEREAS, Lorraine L. …
