FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GOVERNOR MAPP AND GOVERNOR PADILLA OF PUERTO RICO COORDINATE RESOURCES DURING PREPARATIONS FOR HURRICANE DANNY (August 20, 2015, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands) Today, Governor Kenneth E. Mapp conferred with Governor Alejando Garcia Padilla, of Puerto Rico, in anticipation of the effects of Hurricane Danny on the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The two Governors met via teleconference, discussing concerns and coordinating resources, in the event that Hurricane Danny were to impact the two US possessions. “The Governor of Puerto Rico and I are both concerned about high winds and flood mitigation issues, however, as our islands are experiencing a severe drought, we are hopeful that this will only be felt as a rain event,” stated Governor Mapp. As the storm approaches, the Governors’ agreed to maintain daily communication and assistance if necessary. ###
