ACTNO, 7162 BILL NO. 28-0189 TWENTY-EIGHTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2010 An Act creating the Farm to School Program within the Department of Agriculture to promote healthful food and healthful living <uaQ-cs Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. (a) There is established, within the Department of Agriculture, a farm to school Program. In consultation with the Department of Education, the program shall facilitate and promote the sale of Virgin Islands-grown farm products by farms to school districts, individual schools and other educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Department of education. When available from Virgin Islands farmers and once quality standards are met, the Department of Education school lunch program, during the school year, must purchase, after advance notification of availability, all needed agricultural produce from Virgin Islands farmers. The prices for all farm products must be negotiated for the mutual benefit of all entities involved and must be agreed upon in advance of such purchases. …
