September 23 U.S. Virgin Islands  — Acting Governor Tregenza A. Roach today announced the closure of all public schools in both the St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix districts, as well as central government offices and all nonessential and non-emergency operations, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 , due to forecasted inclement weather associated with tropical wave AL 94. This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution to safeguard the health and safety of Virgin Islanders. “The safety of our students, public servants, and residents is our highest priority,” Acting Governor Roach said. “We are taking these steps to minimize risk, ensure our emergency response teams can operate effectively, and allow road crews the access they need to assess and clear our roadways, particularly in areas still saturated from heavy rainfall over the past week.” Residents are urged to remain off the roads as much as possible on Wednesday. Staying home will not only protect individuals and families but will also allow emergency personnel and road crews to carry out their work efficiently and without obstruction. Ongoing Assessments and Monitoring Government agencies will be conducting assessments throughout Wednesday to evaluate any impacts on public infrastructure, schools, and communities. Additionally, officials continue to monitor another weather system currently being tracked in the region. Further updates will be provided on Wednesday as more information becomes available from the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA), the National Weather Service, and other emergency partners. Acting Governor Roach reminds all residents to stay alert to official updates, exercise caution, and place their safety and the safety of their families first. ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
