Plan and Practice Your Escape!” serves as an effective reminder to individuals to take personal steps to increase their safety from fire; and WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week is observed annually to promote life-safety, increase public awareness of the dangers and hazards of fires, emphasize the importance of fire safety which includes the installation of fire safety devices, such as smoke alarms, and make a lifelong difference for the people in our community. …

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Albert Bryan Jr., Governor of the United States Virgin Islands, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, do hereby proclaim the week of October 6" through 12, 2019, as FIRE PREVENTION WEEK in the United States Virgin Islands. | strongly urge residents throughout the Virgin Islands to team up with the Fire Service in this observance and participate in the activities scheduled for this week.
