September 24 U.S. Virgin Islands  — Acting Governor Tregenza A. Roach today announced that all public schools in both the St. Thomas–St. John and St. Croix districts will reopen  Thursday, September 25, 2025 , and that normal operations for the central government will also resume. The closures of schools, government offices, and nonessential operations on Wednesday were done out of an abundance of caution in anticipation of possible impacts from tropical wave AL94. Following close consultation with the National Weather Service in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA), officials have determined that no further weather impacts are anticipated to the extent that they would disrupt regular government functions. “We acted prudently in closing schools and government offices on Wednesday to ensure the safety of our residents and to allow our road crews and emergency personnel the ability to respond without interruption,” Acting Governor Roach said. “After careful monitoring and assessment, we believe conditions are suitable for the safe resumption of normal operations on Thursday.” Virgin Islanders are encouraged to remain cautious as they return to school and work, particularly in areas where roads may still be damp or soft from recent rains. Acting Governor Roach also urged residents to continue paying close attention to official government updates as another weather system in the region remains under observation. The Bryan–Roach Administration thanks the community for its cooperation during today’s closures and for continuing to prioritize safety first. ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
