As to the merits of this town needing as speedy relief as possible in this direction, or so far as Frederiksted is concerned, it is conceded that there are two springs in the latter town, one at the west of La Grange, and the well known Hardep Gut to the east, botß of which aford easily accessible facility at any rate for laundry purposes, not to men- tion the seashore which has always by its natural formation and location been u ilized to the same end, in all of which r spects Christiansted is absolutely with- out asset. Furtheimore it is a fact that Frederiksted is a smaller town with fewer peopie, and more cisterns and wells in proportion than this town—then by all means give assistance where most ueed- cd, first. Memorandum of Fire Which Occurred on 10 July 1923 At or about 110 thisa. m. a fire was discovered in the store of Herman Car- tier, No. 9b Filestrade, Kronprinsens Quarter, by the owner who resides in the room adjoining the said store. At the time of the discovery the fire had gainad considerable headway owing to the fact that he deals, among other things, in kerosine. The close proximity of the neighbor- ing living quarters, which was of a very poor and flimsy counstruction caused the fire to spread rapidly, with the resalt that the following properties were total- ly destroyed: 7b Pilestrade, owned by Marhilda Gumbs.
