Fort St. George from New York via St. Thomas arrived at Frederik- sted yesterday morning and sailed for the islands in the afternoon. The ship brought a number of tourists many of whom visited this town. Seventeen bags mail were received by her, as we learn, letters and printed matter only, the parcel post being forwarded by the S. 8. Martinique which sailed from New York on the same day as the Fort St. George and is expected in St. Thomas today, and here tomorrow The funeral of Mr. E. We are very pleased to say, that our live wire and | energetic townsman, Mr. Adolph Sixto is in direct communica tion with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, which,is furnish- ing him with all the necessary materials for building and maintaining a local Chamber of Commerce, and he is now treating with them to have this institu- tion affiliated with their’s, and since this idea is assuming such important con- sideration, he suggests that we affiliate the sister island also within this idea, inviting delegates from over there to generalize the idea of a Virgin Islands Chamber of Commerce, so as to pro- mote the general prosperity of these American insular possession. Let us arise to the necessity of this, 2nd help ourseives, and do not throw as we always do the responsibility of such a gigantic task upon the shoulders of one man. We must consider after all that he is human and needs help, and if we are aspiring to popular im- portance and commercial expansion, it has to be done by general co-operation. The Emancipator, Feb. The deceased who was the widow of the late Council MeDou- gal was possessed of a charitable dis- position and was very much liked.
