UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION ON THE TELECOMMUTING POLICY Purpose: To Approve the Telecommuting Policy of the University of the Virgin Islands WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands (“the University”) recognizes the importance of supporting telecommuting opportunity to facilitate improved productivity and performance of University employees and to accommodate employees’ work-life balance; and WHEREAS, best practices reflect that the implementation of a telecommuting policy is in keeping with the trend among companies and educational institutions nationally and internationally; and WHEREAS, the University seeks to grant authorized employees the opportunity to work from an alternate work location of the central workplace of the University’s Campuses, or satellite locations for one or more days per week on a systematic and routine basis; and WHEREAS, the University has determined that the best interests of the University is served by affording the privilege to telecommute to certain employees in order to facilitate, allow or enhance the performance …

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION ON THE TELECOMMUTING POLICY Purpose: To Approve the Telecommuting Policy of the University of the Virgin Islands WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands (“the University”) recognizes the importance of supporting telecommuting opportunity to facilitate improved productivity and performance of University employees and to accommodate employees’ work-life balance; and WHEREAS, best practices reflect that the implementation of a telecommuting policy is in keeping with the trend among companies and educational institutions nationally and internationally; and WHEREAS, the University seeks to grant authorized employees the opportunity to work from an alternate work location of the central workplace of the University’s Campuses, or satellite locations for one or more days per week on a systematic and routine basis; and WHEREAS, the University has determined that the best interests of the University is served by affording the privilege to telecommute to certain employees in order to facilitate, allow or enhance the performance of the employee’s work, but shall not be utilized on a full-time basis for any University employee; and WHEREAS, the University desires to extend this privilege with the understanding that the policy shall not change the material terms and conditions of the eligible employee’s employment with the University; and WHEREAS, in furtherance of its rights to ensure the operation of the institution pursuant to its statutory mandates, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, the University, at all times, reserves the right to temporarily suspend the telecommuting policy as the best interests of the University may determine; and WHEREAS, the draft Telecommuting Policy has been vetted through the University’s shared governance process; and WHEREAS, on May 1, 2018, the Finance and Budget Committee of the Board of Trustees (“the Board” has voted to forward the Telecommuting Policy to the Board for its approval. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. The Telecommuting Policy, a true and correct copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”, is hereby approved; 2. the President of the University is hereby authorized to take all such actions as may be necessary to implement this Resolution; 3. The Telecommuting Policy shall be effective as a policy of the University as of June 2, 2018 CERTIFICATION The Undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday June 2, 2018, as recorded in the Minutes of said meeting.
