November 14 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has signed Tentative Wage Agreements that the Office of Collective Bargaining has reached with a number of local unions, including the United Steelworkers on behalf of the USW Masters’ bargaining unit. The USW Masters bargaining unit covers more than 500 non-supervisory staff in 15 agencies within the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI). This includes nurses, school monitors, social workers, cashiers and tax, accounting, financial and IT professionals. “This collective bargaining agreement expired nine years ago, so I am elated that we have completed negotiations for wages and other benefits for these hardworking employees,” said Chief Negotiator Joss Springette, Esq. The Tentative Wage Agreement is effective from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2025. In addition, the Office of Collective Bargaining also negotiated new agreements, that Governor Bryan also signed, with the following local unions: On September 29, Governor Bryan signed the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the GVI and the Seafarers International Union on behalf of all Corrections Officers. The Correction Officers bargaining unit consists of correction officers within the Bureau of Corrections and the Department of Human Services-Youth Rehabilitation Center. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is effective from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2025. On October 12, Governor Bryan signed the Tentative Wage Agreement between the Virgin Islands Lottery Commission and the United Steelworkers Support Staff bargaining unit. The Virgin Islands Lottery Support Staff bargaining unit consists of non-supervisory support staff within the Virgin Islands Lottery. The Tentative Wage Agreement is effective from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2024. On October 12, Governor Bryan signed the Tentative Wage Agreement between the Virgin Islands Lottery Commission and the United Steelworkers Supervisors bargaining unit. The Virgin Islands Lottery Supervisors bargaining unit consists of certain supervisory staff within the Virgin Islands Lottery. The Tentative Wage Agreement is effective from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2024. The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
