MORE IN sCHOOLS NOW THAN ALL OF LAST YEAR Enrollment Taken at end of Second School Month Shown 167,685 in Island Schools - ' There are 7,000 more pupils enrolled in the publie schools of the island so far this year than there were enrolled all of last year. According to a detailed tatement by towns there were 167.685 pupiis en- rolled in all of the schools on Oc¢*ober 24, whieh was the end of the second school month. The total enrolled for the last school year was 160,794. " In the rural schools there are 104,646 pupils enrolled while in the urbangraded schools there are 55,662 pupils. In the high schoois of the island there ave 3,578 students and there are 3,043 pupiis en- rolled in the night school. Enrolled at the University in the college departmen(s are 622 students; at Mayagucez there are 97, enrolled in the sub-cellegiate courses, there are 137 students in the university high school at Rio Piedrzas. Lthere has been an increase enrollm-nt of approximateiv 10,000 students during the second month of the school year. In San Juan there are 674 studentis in the high school and 6.85% 10 the graded schools. In Ponce there are 552 studen:s enrnlled in the hignh school and 5,564 n ther graded schools.
