- Office of the Commissioner Friday, July 11, 2025 PUBLIC NOTICE Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Thomas Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 4:00 pm. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform ZOOM. The agenda is as follows: Public Hearing ( testimony will be heard) Public Hearing for Federal Consistency Determination, CZM0030-24, has been submitted by the U.S. Amry Corps of Engineers for Savan Gut Phase II. The purpose of the project is to reduce flood damage to the Jane E. Tuitt Elementary School and the Central Business District in downtown Charlotte Amalie. The Savan section of Charlotte Amalie has extremely high runoff rates due to the steep slopes in the upper basin. The Savan Gut project area is in Charlotte Amalie on the south side of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The project proposes to make improvement to Veteran’s Drive. This is phase II of the Veteran’s Drive Project. The project is located along the shoreline of Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Phase II will be from Veteran’s Drive (Route 30) from west Kronprindsens Taver Gade to west Hospital Gade. All files are available for review on DPNR’s website under Federal Consistency and permitting sections.
