Correspondence ‘ Christiansted, Ma® 16, 1822 The Editor “‘St. Croix Avis,”’ Dear Sir:— In search of relief I stumblel on paragraph 58 chapter 12 of the Poiice Regulations for St. €Croix reading as follows: “At public performances or other amusement the audience must cond:c? themselves in a decent and orderly mon- ner, and not tnte yupt the same nor wv” the enjoyment of others by noise, shouts, ‘ continuous applause nor by any other means. Apnyope who visits the Christiansted Theatre or resides in the neighbourhood of that place would be excused for won- dering if this regulation is a dead letter one. It is simply scandalous how the people behave zt the theatre; the shout- ing, shrieking, bowling, and other dis- == - " “oisterous behaviour, to be heard all over the town. being enough to drive one wild, although the fallacy is that one goes to the theatre for rest of mind and nerve, for recreation. If the management does not feel the interest in its patrons to protect them from this ' abuse of their comfort and peace of mind, the police, which is well represent- ed as a rule, is appealed to in the interest of TAXPAYERS. Mr. Editor;--- Some short time ago in the local papers we read a notice from Govern- ment that the firm of Ramsay, Coogan and Co., Inc.. wa3s dissolved, and that said firm was ‘‘extinct’’. Yet now again in the same papers we read new adver- tisements signed by this company.
