bjbjîFîF SMT Professional Development Project Computer Technology in Education Instructor Moneca Pinkett Computer Science & Math Faculty, University of the Virgin Islands President, TechConnect Email: mpinket@uvi.edu Phone: 340-774-0963 Website: www.techconnect.vi Description Introduces the use of computers in the conduct of educational research on the Internet, and for the in-class delivery of computerized educational modules and hands-on laboratory simulations that are now widely available across the disciplines. The course will meet Saturday, March 19, 2005, Sunday, March 20, 2005, and a date to be determined (TBD) from 9am to 3pm. Lunch will be provided. Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in schools and apply those principals in practice. The Computer Technology in Education courses will take place on the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses of the University of the Virgin Islands.
