September 7 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued proclamations for the month of September in the Territory, bringing awareness to emergency preparedness, several public health concerns, environmental initiatives, and contributions made by the Territory’s workforce. Gov. Bryan has proclaimed September National Preparedness Month in the Territory to urge Virgin Islanders to take concrete actions to further their preparations for emergencies and disasters, in keeping with the nation’s establishment of National Preparedness Month. In recognition of September as Ovarian & Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Gov. Bryan calls on the Territory’s residents to learn about their risk of developing ovarian and prostate cancer and to speak to healthcare providers about screening. Gov. Bryan has declared September Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease as well as the challenges faced by individuals and families in the Territory living with Sickle Cell Disease. As suicide is a pressing public health concern in the Virgin Islands and across the U.S., Gov. Bryan has proclaimed the month of September Suicide Prevention Awareness Month to concentrate on prioritized local prevention efforts. By proclaiming September Labor & Management Awareness Month, Gov. Bryan recognizes the work the community completes to increase the significant economic, social and cultural development of the Territory. Additionally, Gov. Bryan has declared Sept. 4 th as West Indies Solidarity Day, Sept. 11 th   as Patriot Day, Sept. 24 th as Gold Star Mothers/Family Day, Sept. 25 th as Murder Victims Remembrance Day and Sept. 29 th as Arbor Day in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
