ACTNO. 8468 BILL NO. 34-0076 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2021 An Act amending title 5 Virgin Isiands Code, subtitle 1, part 1, chapter 3 to grant seniors and the terminally ill preference in civil actions Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 5 Virgin Islands Code, subtitle 1, part 1, chapter 3, section 31 is amended by designating the existing language as subsection (a) and adding a subsection (b) to read as follows: “(b) Motion for preference; elderly; medical reasons; time of trial (1) A party to a civil action who is over 70 years of age or older may petition the court for a preference, which the court shall grant if it finds that the party has a substantial interest in the action as a whole. …
