Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas. This hearing will examine elderly housing access and system coordination in the Virgin Islands, with particular focus on Section 8 waiting lists, voucher utilization, landlord participation, and inter-agency coordination affecting seniors. Please be prepared to address the following: • Number of applicants age 60+ currently on the Section 8 waiting list by island. • Average wait time for elderly applicants. • Whether elderly status provides ranking preference. • Number of elderly voucher holders paying more than 30% of income toward rent. • Number of elderly applicants removed from the waitlist in the past two years and reasons. …

Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas. This hearing will examine elderly housing access and system coordination in the Virgin Islands, with particular focus on Section 8 waiting lists, voucher utilization, landlord participation, and inter-agency coordination affecting seniors. Please be prepared to address the following: • Number of applicants age 60+ currently on the Section 8 waiting list by island. • Average wait time for elderly applicants. • Whether elderly status provides ranking preference. • Number of elderly voucher holders paying more than 30% of income toward rent. • Number of elderly applicants removed from the waitlist in the past two years and reasons. • Whether landlords are declining elderly voucher holders and what enforcement mechanisms exist. • Coordination between VIHA and DHS when seniors are discharged from hospitals or care facilities.
