Virgin sre ORDER LIFTING PRICE FREEZE AND RESTRICTED SALE WHEREAS, on August 27-28, 2015, the Virgin Islands was under the immediate threat of a natural disaster which caused damage to residential, commercial, industrial and government facilities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Title 23, Section 1005(d), Virgin Islands Code, the Governor of the Virgin Islands is vested with the authority to declare a State of Emergency if it is determined that an emergency or major disaster is has occurred or is imminent; WHEREAS, the Governor, through the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs was desirous of protecting the residents of the Territory from price-gouging and other unfair business practices; and WHEREAS, Governor Kenneth E. Mapp, Governor of the Virgin Islands, pursuant to his authority in Section 11 of the Revised Organic Act, did declare a State of Emergency On August 27, 2015; WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Title 23, Section 1005(d)(10), Virgin Islands Code, the Commissioner of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs is authorized to, upon the declaration of a State of Emergency and upon the directive of the Governor, issue a Price Freeze and Restricted Sale Order to protect the consumers of the Territory; WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Licensing and Consumer Affairs, on August 28, 2015, based on the declaration of a State Of Emergency and the directive of the Governor, did issue a Price Freeze and Restricted Sale Order; and WHEREAS, the Governor has determined that the threat of imminent damage is no longer evident; and “Serving Businesses and Assisting, Educating, & Protecting Consumers” www.dica.vi.gav Government of the Virgin Islands of the United States Py cENSING a EDUCATE % Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs ul A & FAAS Virgin sie WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs has determined that there exist sufficient signs of consumer confidence to warrant a return to normalcy; and WHEREAS, on August 28, 2015 at 5:00p.m, the Governor lifted the State of Emergency imposed on August 27, 2015; it is hereby ORDERED, that the Price Freeze\ and Restricted Sale Order previously issued on August 28, 2015, is hereby lifted LIF DATE ai rrington, Esq issigner st De rt t of Licensing And ment of Affairs is) “Serving Businesses and Assisting, Educating, & Protecting Consumers www.dilca.vi.gov
