The maneuvers this year are ex- . pected to extend intermittantly over a ] period of two or three .weeks ‘and ‘wiil | include among other things a hike from | Christiansted to Frederiksted along three | roads at the same time. One column will .\ march by th- North road. one by the ] center and one by the South road. There wil! also be sham battles (with dummy cartridges), road sketching, problems in attack and defense, night marching: tent pitehing, problems in advance and rear guard, surprising and attacking an ~ imaginary enemy and many other pro blems peculiar to the art of war. It is also the intention to bivouac on various parts of the island over night. _ The intention of these exercises is so keep alive the lesson learned in the World War and to demonstrate to the public at large the nature of service to expect should the citizens at any future time beflcalled to the colors in the de- fense of their country in event of anoth- er. war. .
