ACT NO.6428 BILL NO. 24-0078 TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2001 To amend title 29, Virgin Islands Code: to (1) authorize the sale and assignment of all sums to be received by the Government of the United States Virgin Islands pursuant the Master Settlement Agreement between leading United States tobacco product manufacturers and various states and other United States jurisdictions, including the Virgin Islands, to a special purpose, independent instrumentality of the Virgin Islands, having a legal existence separate from the Government, the "Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation"; (2) authorize the creation of the Corporation; and (3) authorize the issuance of Tobacco Settlement Asset-Backed Bonds, notes, or other evidences of indebtedness of the Corporation for authorized purposes, to be secured by and paid solely from the payments from Participating Manufacturers under the Master Settlement Agreement; and to provide for other related purposes ---()--- WHEREAS, on November 23, 1998, leading United States tobacco product manuf …
