ACTNO. 8259 BILL NO. 33-0 123 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2019 An Act to earmark a percentage of the Government of the Virgin Islands budget to support local agriculture ---0--- Be it enacted by (lie Legislature of the Legiclature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. In addition to funds allotted in the budget, a percentage of the local funds of the Government Virgin Islands budget shall be earmarked and allocated to the Department of Agriculture to support local farming initiatives. The funding shall be allocated on a sliding scale as follows: (I) In years one, two and three one quarter ofa percentage (0.25%) shall be earmarked; (2) In years four and five, one half ofa percentage (0.50%) shall be earmarked; and (3) Evay successive-year thereafter, one percent (1%) shall be earmarked. SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect in Fiscal Year 2020. Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands on December 19. 2019.
