FEBRUARY 2012 OCCUPANCY REPORT BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS There were 322,499 visitor arrivals to the US Virgin Islands in February 2012, up by 32,361 or 11.2 percent increase over February 2011. There were 250,153 cruise ship passengers, a 10.5 percent increased when compared to February 2011. The overall occupancy rate for the Territory was 64.4 percent compared to 63.7 percent one year ago. Occupied room nights in February 2011 were 92,645, an increase of 3.2 percent compared with the previous February. A total of $2,187,651 hotel room revenue was collected this February. revenues this month compared to $1,960,409 in February 2011, a revenue growth of 11.6 percent. TOURISM STATISTICS JANUARY TO FEBRUARY 2012 There were 643,881 visitors for the first two months of 2012, an increase of 31,949 visitors or 5.2 percent over the same period in 2011. There were 142,835 air visitors, a healthy 9.0 percent increase from the 130,998 air visitors who came in the corresponding period in 2011. …
