The two back-to-back Category 5 storms in September 2017 caused significant destruction to housing, infrastructure, and the economy; the total damage is estimated at $10.76 billion. The entire population—over 100,000 residents—was impacted by the devastation brought on by the storms, with winds of over 185 miles per hour and up to 20 inches of rain in some areas. …
