THE VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT “To Protect and Serve” Office of the Commissioner VIPD NEWS RELEASE- 112423-359 For Immediate Media Distribution November 24, 2023 Man Allegedly Assaulted Female Causing Serious Bodily Injuries St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On November 23, 2023, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) was notified to travel to Juan F. Luis Hospital for an Assault Second Domestic Violence case. CIB detectives made contact with the victim who stated she was assaulted by Mr. Teddy Vanhorn, who she has been in a relationship for two months. She stated that she woke up to Mr. Vanhorn stomping on her face and neck, hitting her, and strangling her until she lost consciousness. The victim sustained injuries to her nose, neck and fingers. Mr. Vanhorn was Mirandized and declined to provide a statement. Mr. Teddy Vanhorn was arrested, booked and transported to John A. Bell Correctional Facility pending his advised of rights hearing. He was charged with Assault in the Second Degree/DV and no bail was set in this matter. ###
