Act No. 6280 (BILL NO. 23-0007) (Approved May 14, 1999) To name the Centerline Road on St. John from the Emmaus Moravian Church intersection to the Bordeaux Road entrance as "The Marsh’s Scenic Highway" and to name the Centerline Road from Coral Bay to Cruz Bay "The Gerda Marsh Drive" WHEREAS, the Marsh family on the island of St. John, contributed miles of roadway through their estates to the Government of the Virgin Islands without any monetary exchanges; and WHEREAS, the Marsh family agreed that they would allow the Government to construct a super hillside highway starting from an area close to the Emmaus Moravian Church all the way beyond the Reef Bay Trail; and WHEREAS, the Marsh family owned Reef Bay, Maho Bay and Estate Carolina, and still does have holdings in Estate Carolina; and WHEREAS, Gerda N. Marsh was born on April 9, 1906 to Minerva K. and Ernest W. Marsh on the island of St. John; and WHEREAS, Miss Marsh attended a private school on the island of St. John and was taught by Mrs. …
