ÜBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the school year 1919-1920 wili begin September 8, 1919. All children six years of age or over must be present at their respective schools at 9a. m. on that day; non-at- tendance, except for legitimate cause, is punishable by a fine imposed on parents or guardians. . Children who will attain the age of six years within four months after Septem- ber 8, 1919, may be admitted to schools on that date when written application of parents or guardians to do so has been approved by the School Director. No child except in the case of new _ar- rivals in St. Croix, will be admitted to school after September 8, 1919, until the beginning of the school year in September 1920, unless they ean show fitness to un- dertake the work of a class already es- tablished. ' Semi-annual enrollment r admittances are discontinued, as it wi!l be im_r)oss?_)le to admit pupils to a class after the begin- ning of the schoo! year. An entirely new set of text-books has been secured, and a new system of teach- ing in accordance with American methods and ideas, will be established. …
