English 100, Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC 011) is an essay test which involves creating an outline and writing a basic five paragraph essay on a given topic. If a student does not have SAT or ACT scores then that student can also take the English Placement Tests. Students must bring an official picture identification when they come to take the English Placement Tests. It is imperative that students concentrate and do their best work on the placement tests. Test results are generally available within two days so students can register. REGISTRATION When students register for English 100, Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC 011) or for English 101, Reading in the Content Area (RCA 021), they must also register for a linked course of Science 100 – The Natural World or Social Science 100 – An Introduction to the Social Sciences. These linked courses allow you to apply concepts taught in the English courses. For more information about testing services see the UVI catalog online at www.uvi.edu page 25, Additional Preparation and Testing. For specific information about English Testing call 693-1340 or 693-1346 on the St. Thomas campus.
