Office of the Commissioner August 14, 2023 PUBLIC NOTICE Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Thomas Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 4:00 pm. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Teams. The agenda is as follows: Decision Meetings (public testimony will not be heard) Federal Consistency Determination No. CZT-01-23(FC) VI Department of Education (VIDE) requests permission to use FEMA Funds to renovate and modernize the Bertha C. Boschulte School (BCB). The project scope includes items necessary to transition BCB into a PreK-8th grade campus. These items include the renovation/modernization of existing classrooms, new PreK-5th classrooms, administrative offices, library, cafeteria, kitchen, bathrooms, stairways, balconies, theater, hallways and all fixtures, equipment and contents. (CREF 3) formerly DiamondRock Frenchman’s Owner, Inc. The Permittee has requested to further modify its current permits to protect its buildings on Morningstar Beach and renourish the beach that was lost as a result of the 2017 hurricanes. The Permittee no longer intends to install shoreline armoring revetments and artificial reef breakwaters. The proposed project will be located on and seaward of Plot #5-A, 4F & 5F Estate Bakkero, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
