Department of Human Services Division of Disabilities & Rehabilitation Services INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES FOR OLDER INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE BLIND (OIB) PROGRAM What is the older individuals who are blind program? The older individuals who are blind (OIB) program helps persons who are age 55 or older, visually impaired or legally blind achieve their goals for independent living . OIB services may include but not limited to rehabilitation counseling, mobility& orientation training, low vision evaluation, visual aids & adjustment to blindness. Am I eligible for the OIB Program? You may be eligible for OIB services if you meet all of the following requirements: 1) Are you 55 years of age or older and is legally blind or have a significant visual impairment 2) Do you have a visual impairment that substantially limits your ability to be independent 3) Are you in need of OIB services in order to maintain your independence 4) Are you retired, unemployed and no longer able to obtain or retain employment How do I apply for the OIB Program? …
