Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Commemorative Coin 4 Amendments Act of 1999’’. 5 2 •S 760 IS SEC. 2. AMENDMENT TO COIN PROGRAM. 1 Section 5112(l) of title 31, United States Code, is 2 amended by adding at the end the following: 3 ‘‘(8) INCLUSION OF NON-STATES.— 4 ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—During the 1-year pe- 5 riod beginning at the end of the period de- 6 scribed in paragraph (1)(A), quarter dollar 7 coins shall be minted and issued having designs 8 on the reverse side that are emblematic of each 9 of the 6 non-States. 10 ‘‘(B) APPLICABILITY.—The requirements 11 of paragraphs (2) through (6) shall apply to 12 coins issued in commemoration of the non- 13 States, except that, for purposes of this 14 paragraph— 15 ‘‘(i) references in those paragraphs to 16 ‘States’ and ‘the 50 States’ shall be con- 17 strued to be references to the 6 non-States; 18 ‘‘(ii) references in these paragraphs to 19 the ‘10-year period’ shall be construed to 20 be references to the 1-year period de- 21 scribed in subparagraph (A) of this para- 22 graph; and 23 ‘‘(iii) references in those paragraphs 24 to the ‘50 designs’ shall be construed to be 25 3 •S 760 IS references to the 6 designs relating to the 1 non-States. 2 ‘‘(C) ORDER.—Coins shall be minted and 3 issued for non-States in the order in which they 4 appear in subparagraph (D). 5 ‘‘(D) DEFINITION.—In this paragraph, the 6 term ‘non-States’ means— 7 ‘‘(i) the District of Columbia; 8 ‘‘(ii) the Commonwealth of Puerto 9 Rico; 10 ‘‘(iii) Guam; 11 ‘‘(iv) American Samoa; 12 ‘‘(v) the United States Virgin Islands; 13 and 14 ‘‘(vi) the Commonwealth of the North- 15 ern Mariana Islands.’’. 16 Æ
