RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands is committed to recognizing and rewarding outstanding service to the University and to the Board; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alfred O. Heath was appointed and confirmed to the Board of Trustees of the then College, now University of the Virgin Islands in April 1978 and served continuously until 1996; and WHEREAS, Dr. Heath served with distinction for nineteen years, during the administration of three presidents of the University, and participated in numerous Board and University meetings and activities; and WHEREAS, in recognition of this continuing commitment to the development of the University and higher education in the Virgin Islands, In October 1983 and October 1991, Dr. Heath was renominated and reconfirmed as a member of the Board for two additional, consecutive terms of five years each; and WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished service on the Board, Dr. …

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands is committed to recognizing and rewarding outstanding service to the University and to the Board; and WHEREAS, Dr. Alfred O. Heath was appointed and confirmed to the Board of Trustees of the then College, now University of the Virgin Islands in April 1978 and served continuously until 1996; and WHEREAS, Dr. Heath served with distinction for nineteen years, during the administration of three presidents of the University, and participated in numerous Board and University meetings and activities; and WHEREAS, in recognition of this continuing commitment to the development of the University and higher education in the Virgin Islands, In October 1983 and October 1991, Dr. Heath was renominated and reconfirmed as a member of the Board for two additional, consecutive terms of five years each; and WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished service on the Board, Dr. Heath served on the Long Range Planning Committee and Executive Committee of the Board, and as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board, thereby bringing credibility to the work of the Board; and WHEREAS, at the conclusion of his service on the Board, Dr. Heath served the University for nineteen years during which he rendered exemplary and loyal service; and WHEREAS, Dr. Heath is a widely respected gentleman with numerous honors and awards for his outstanding achievements in medicine, the military, business, community, government service, and his contributions to elevating the standards of higher education in the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the president, vice presidents and members of the Cabinet of the University join with the Board of Trustees to express profound appreciation and pay tribute to Dr. Alfred O. Heath for his distinguished achievements which have brought mutual acclaim to himself and to the University. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of his exemplary service to the Board of Trustees and the University of the Virgin Islands, it is hereby authorized by the Board of Trustees that Dr. Alfred O. Heath be granted the status of Trustee Emeritus with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities pertaining thereto. Attested to by the University Administration and Board of Trustees on this 25" day of October 1997: Auguste E. Rimpel, Jr., Ph.D. Orville E. Kean, Ph.D. Chairman, Board of Trustees President RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands is committed to recognizing and rewarding outstanding executive and community service; and WHEREAS, in 1974, Dr. Darshan S. Padda joined the then College, now University of the Virgin Islands, and built outstanding Cooperative Extension Service and Agriculture Experiment Station programs that became renowned among land grant institutions throughout the United States and the Caribbean; and WHEREAS, at the time of his retirement as Vice President for Research and Land-Grant Affairs and Professor of Genetics in March 1997, Dr. Padda had served the University for twenty-three years and rendered exemplary and loyal service; and WHEREAS, Dr. Padda made significant contributions as a member of the administrative team under the second president, and as a member of the Cabinet under the third president, including launching of the Caribbean Writer, a regional literary magazine; and WHEREAS, throughout his twenty-three years of service to the University, Dr. Padda brought recognition to himself and the University through many personal and professional accomplishments and awards for the development and implementation of numerous innovative research and community service programs, locally, regionally, and nationally; and WHEREAS, Dr. Padda is a widely recognized and respected professional among territorial, regional, national and international organizations for his executive leadership and administrative skills; and WHEREAS, Dr. Padda has been honored for his distinguished services to a wide variety of professional organization such as the Extension Committee on Organization and Police (ECOP), Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS), and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges (NASULGC); and WHEREAS, the president, vice presidents and members of the Cabinet of the University join with the Board of Trustees to recognize and pay tribute to Dr. Padda for his many outstanding accomplishments which brought mutual acclaim to himself and the University. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of his outstanding service to the University, the people of the Virgin Islands and Caribbean, the Board of Trustees of the University hereby authorizes that Dr. Darshan S. Padda be granted the status of Vice President Emeritus with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities pertaining thereto.
