COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BILL NO. 35-0397 Thirty-Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands October 30, 2024 An Act amending title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 7, subchapter II changing the appointment and reporting authority of the Executive Director of the Bureau of School Construction Maintenance from the Governor of the Virgin Islands to the Virgin Islands Board of Education PROPOSED BY: Senator Diane T. Capehart Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 7, subchapter II, section 102, is 2 amended as follows: 3 (a) In subsection (a), paragraph (1), by striking “Governor” and inserting “Board of 4 Education” and by adding an “s” at the end of Island”; 5 (b) Subsection (b) is amended: 6 (1) In paragraph (1), by striking “Governor and work at the pleasure of the 7 Governor” and inserting “Board of Education”; and 8 (2) In paragraph (8), subparagraph (A), by striking “those” and inserting “that”; 9 and 10 (c) In subsection (c) by striking “Office of the Governor”. …
