THE VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT “To Protect and Serve” Office of the Commissioner AAF Justice Complex, 5400 Veterans Drive St. Thomas, 00802 * (340) 774-2211 Administrative Services Building 45 Mars Hill, Frederiksted St. Croix, 00840 * (340) 778-2211 www.vipd.vi.gov VIPD NEWS RELEASE - 081623-266 For Immediate Media Distribution August 16, 2023 Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision on Queen Mary Highway Leaves One Deceased St. Croix, USVI - On August 15, 2023, at approximately 7:01 p.m., officers from the Wilbur Francis command was dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center, to travel to a two- vehicle collision on Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of the Whim Museum. Officers onscene stated that the preliminary investigation revealed that a black Acura was heading eastbound at a high rate of speed passing vehicles along the roadway when it collided with a Ford Escape heading westbound. The driver operating the Acura succumbed to his injuries and the driver of the Ford Escape suffered, nonlife-threatening injuries. …

The male driver of the black Acura was identified as 41-year-old Devin Fleming. This case remains open and under investigation by the Virgin Island Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District. ###
